The Influence of Environmental Conditions in Arctic Regions.

Air Marshal (Dr) Pawan Kapoor, AVSM, VSM, and BAR (Retd), Former Director General of Medical Services (IAF), Vice Chancellor of Lincoln American University, School of Medicine (LAU) and Dr. Wesley Torrington, Dean, Academic Affairs of LAU met Hon’ble Minister Volda Lawrence, Member of Parliament and Minister of Public Health, Guyana.


During the meeting, the three dignitaries held discussions on various issues related to public health in Guyana, along with multiple avenues to ensure proper health services for all the people in the country, including how affordable health care be achieved for all the Guyanese through adequate implementation of the affordable health education system, support from community and volunteerism.


On the occasion, Air Marshal (Dr) Pawan Kapoor apprised Her Excellency Minister Volda Lawrence about his vision and future plan for LAU in terms of land acquisitions in Guyana for the development of an entire, full-fledged University Complex with academic, research, hostel and recreational facilities and further develop the LAU infrastructure to provide medical education in Guyana, with holistic development approach, to medical aspirants from Guyana and other countries all around the world.



Discussions were also held regarding LAU’s participation in various community and health outreach programs in Guyana along with a proposal for integrating the system of LAU with Public Health Delivery Systems in Guyana. The Hon'ble minister appreciated the efforts LAU is making for the betterment of medical education and healthcare.


On behalf of all the members of LAU, Air Marshal (Dr) Pawan Kapoor and Dr. Torrington invited the Hon’ble Minister to come, visit the University and address the young medical students with her words of wisdom, inspiration and encouragement. Graciously accepting the invitation, Her Excellency Hon’ble Minister Volda Lawrence assured all the support for the future growth of the University and welcomed the proposal for integrating the University with the Public Health Delivery Systems in Guyana.


Since its inception, LAU has been focused on providing quality medical education in Guyana based on US medical curriculum and has become one of the fastest growing medical colleges in Guyana.
These continuous efforts for combined forces and better collaboration with medical institutions and organizations of national and international standards will help LAU advance its mission of becoming a leading institution for quality medical education and provide better career opportunities to its medical students.


To enable all the students to study medicine in Guyana at an affordable fee, LAU keeps the fee structure to the least possible amount which will help produce more doctors without students undergoing a financial burden, opening doors to affordable healthcare for more and more people in the world., hence strengthening the health ecosystem of Guyana and other nations.
