Examination Format

The marking for NEET PG papers are allotted accordingly, four marks are allotted for each correct answer and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong response. The examination is conducted for 3.5 hours.

USMLE: The USMLE is a three-step examination series:

Step 1: Assess basic science knowledge through MCQs. The exam consists of 280 MCQs, divided into seven 40-question blocks, and takes eight hours to complete. The exam is taken by the students during their 2nd year of medical school.

Step 2:Has two components - Clinical Knowledge (CK) and Clinical Skills (CS). CK assesses clinical knowledge through MCQs, while CS evaluates clinical skills through simulated patient encounters. It is a 9-hour single-day computer-based session. The exam is generally taken during the 4th year of medical school.

Step 3:Evaluates whether a candidate can apply medical knowledge and skills independently to manage patient care. It is the final step for acquiring the Licensing Certificate for MD students aiming to practice medicine in the U.S.The exam consists of multiple choice questions, while the remaining 25 percent are clinical case simulations.

Target Audience

NEET PG: NEET PG is for medical graduates (MBBS) in India who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in various medical specialties within the country.

USMLE: The USMLE is for medical graduates, both US and international, who want to practice medicine in the United States. It is required for ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) certification for international medical graduates to be able to practice medicine in the United States.

Licensing

NEET PG: NEET PG does not grant a medical license. It is only an entrance test for postgraduate medical admissions in India.
