We have got a very very good “NEET news” for all the Indian medical students.
Latest NEET news is that Medical Council of India, with the prior approval of Government of India, has issued a public notice dated April 4, 2019, to exempt the Indian students from the requirement of NEET qualification till the declaration of NEET 2019 results.
NEET 2019 results are scheduled to be declared on June 5, 2019. That means all the students who either not appeared in NEET 2018 or could not qualify NEET 2018 can now take admission in MBBS abroad (or other equivalent medical courses) in foreign medical universities, subject to the fulfillment of all other eligibility requirements.
Relevant excerpt of the MCI Notice is reproduced as under:
“Indian Citizens/OCI who have not qualified NEET-2018 and/or registered in NEET-2018 and intending to take admission in MBBS or equivalent medical course in foreign medical institutions are exempted until the declaration of NEET-2019 result which is scheduled to be declared on 5th June, 2019. However, such candidates have to obtain an eligibility certificate from the Medical Council of India u/s 13(4B) of the IMC Act, 1956.”
“Indian Citizens/ OCI intending to take admission in MBBS or equivalent medical course in foreign medical institutions after declaration of NEET 2019 results can proceed abroad for acquiring primary medical qualification only on qualifying NEET.”
Till now, for admission in MD Program of Lincoln American University, School of Medicine (LAU), one of the fastest growing medical universities situated in South America, NEET was compulsory for Indian Students. Now, all the Indian students can apply to the medical program of LAU without qualifying NEET, till June 5, 2019, the date on which NEET 2019 results is scheduled.
It’s a one-time opportunity that has knocked the door of medical aspirants in India in the form of NEET exemption. Once the exemption window (that is time left until the declaration of NEET 2019 result which is scheduled for June 5, 2019) is over, students will be required to qualify NEET for admission in MBBS abroad.
In the notification, MCI reiterated the revised validity of NEET scores for taking admission in foreign medical universities to pursue MBBS or other undergraduate medical education abroad. Earlier, on March 25, 2019, we, in a NEET Validity post, reported that for admission in a foreign undergraduate medical course/ program, the NEET scores shall be valid for three years from the date of declaration of NEET results.
Relevant excerpt of the MCI Notice is reproduced below:
“Candidates who qualify NEET once, his/her NEET score shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result. Such candidates shall be entitled to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including pre-medical/language course, if any, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course.”
