The notification inter alia stated that for admission in a foreign undergraduate medical course/ program, the NEET scores shall be valid for three years from the date of declaration of NEET results. Relevant excerpt of the notification is as under:

“Furthermore, the result of NEET shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result, entitling a candidate to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including pre-medical/language course, if any, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course.”

Now, for MBBS admission abroad, NEET score shall be valid for a period of three years from the date of declaration of NEET results.

What Does It mean for Indian Medical Students?

Indian students who clear NEET can now take admission in a foreign undergraduate medical program within a time frame of three years from the date on which they clear their NEET.

It means, once a student qualifies NEET, s/he shall be eligible for admission to a foreign medical university to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course (including the pre-medical or basic foundation for medical science programs) for up to a period of 3 years.

Lincoln American University appreciates this move of the MCI. It will remove the burden from the head of medical students to re-appear for NEET in case they could not get admission in a medical university in the year in which they clear NEET and seek admission in subsequent years.

This commendable move will make it easy for Indian Medical Students to pursue MBBS abroad and take admission in foreign medical universities for MBBS or other undergraduate medical courses and programs.

NEET is held once in a year (most likely in May) in offline mode.
