On December 19, 2019, His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa, High Commissioner of India to Guyana, visited Lincoln American University to oversee the facilities and guide the young medical aspirants in fulfilling their dreams of becoming a good medical professional.
The visit allowed us all to welcome His Excellency, apprise him about the progress and development of the University, and learn from his views, ideas, and suggestions for further progress of the University and betterment of the education system.
His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa arrived at the university campus during the bright afternoon and received by the students with the presentation of a floral bouquet. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Vijaykumar Kizhapate, Counsellor (Commerce & Development Cooperation), High Commission of India to Guyana, and Mrs. Veena Joshi, Attaché (Consular and Education), High Commission of India to Guyana.

Dr. Wesley Torrington, Associate Dean, warmly welcomed His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa and introduced him to the faculty and staff members of the University.

Followed by welcome, the dignitaries gathered in the office of Associate Dean and had a discourse on the functioning of the University and exchanged ideas for the advancement of education. During the course of the discussion, Dr. Wesley Torrington apprised His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa and all the members present about how Lincoln American University is helping medical aspirants from different countries including India to pursue medical education in Guyana by making it affordable and accessible. His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa was glad to know that more than 100 students from India are pursuing the MD program (equivalent to MBBS) at the University.

In the meeting, Dr. Wesley Torrington placed special emphasis on the extracurricular activities and community programs organized for the students keeping in mind their all-round growth and development. Supporting the University’s effort for the well-being of students, His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa stressed that students need to be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities conducted in the cultural center of the Indian High Commission.
His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa mentioned that interested students can join the free dance as well as yoga classes conducted at the cultural center. His Excellency further added that students can participate in the national functions organized by the Indian High Commission.
During the hour-long visit, Dr. Wesley Torrington and University members escorted His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa for a campus tour. On the tour, His Excellency visited the medical laboratories, computer lab, as well as skills lab and was happy to see the availability of modern infrastructure for the education of the students.
On occasion, members of the Student Governing Council introduced themselves to His Excellency and discussed their efforts to make student life easier, better, and active at the University.

An interactive session was also organized for students with His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa. In the session, His Excellency addressed a gathering of about 150 students who participated in the event.
In his address, His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa guided the students towards the pathway to becoming a successful healthcare professional.

Highlighting the advancement of technology, availability of simple means of communication, and efforts of the Indian High Commission to ensure support for all the Indian students and visitors in Guyana, His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa told the audience that students can seek official support by online means and social media. His Excellency also asked the Indian students to get registered on the website of the Indian High Commission to take benefit of all the services made available for the students, including support for passport, visa, and attestation of documents.

In his concluding remarks, His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa ensured full co-operation and support from the Indian High Commission.
We, the family of Lincoln American University, thank His Excellency Dr. K. J. Srinivasa for visiting the University. The visit, wisdom, and words of inspiration of His Excellency filled the students with a new zeal. We are confident that working on the ideas and opinions shared by His Excellency will help us to achieve greater heights and to contribute even better for the upliftment of education and healthcare in Guyana. The affordable and quality medical education will also be instrumental in helping young Indian medical aspirants become world-class doctors, who will take care of the healthcare needs of the people back in their home nation and contribute to making Ayushman Bharat, a vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, a reality.
