Being one of the top medical universities in Guyana, LAU has gained significant recognition and accreditations from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), the General Medical Council of the U.K., the Medical Council of Canada, and the National Medical Commission of India. The university has been enlisted in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and registered with Guyana’s National Accreditation Council. We are proud to be a member of the Global Alliance Medical Education (GAME). The five-year MD/MBBS program at LAU combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on training in state-of-the-art facilities. Students engage in laboratory work, clinical projects, and patient interactions, with a focus on research, ethics, and communication.
